The Ne Bibliaj Tik Nawat (The Bible In Nawat) project is producing a quality translation of the Old and New Testament into the Nawat language of El Salvador from the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
We believe that maximum effort and professionalism should be brought to a Bible translation initiative regardless of the number of speakers of the target language. Nawat may never be one of the “great” languages of the world, yet its speakers still value their native heritage and cultural identity.
Regarding religious mission, let us quote the project’s director, Jan Morrow:
“Ne Bibliaj Tik Nawat is a project to translate and publish the whole Christian Bible in the Nawat language. Jesus Christ’s last command to His disciples before He was taken up to heaven was to go and make disciples of all nations. We believe the best way to make disciples is engaging people in their own cultural setting and this means respecting their language.”
